Dear Faith
Dear Faith
Misfortune has crowned me king
But like a caged bird of freedom I sing
Blindly fighting the battles of the brave
salivating to the stench of an open grave.
Pleading with pain for a plate of poise
But to their ears, my notion was noise
Instead, they served me sumptuous distress
whipping my wishes like a wicked mistress
I yearned to break the chains in my brain
but my feeble feet trembled to disdain
So I stayed trapped in a clumsy cage
Flipping through life's sour page.
As time fluttered and flew,
I hung my bane out to dry
I was bold enough to take the risk.
Which birthed a juvenile brisk.
I became healed of the laments of yesterday
by the providence of the encounters of today
I'm telescoping the treasures of tomorrow
while I bid farewell to pain and sorrow
